Tooth Mottling

Mottling of teeth refers to the discoloration or staining of teeth that can occur due to a variety of reasons such as high fluoride exposure during formation of teeth, certain medications or dietary factors, and diseases that affect enamel development.

Mottling can appear as white patches or streaks on the teeth, making them look dull or discolored. In severe cases, it may cause brown or yellowish discoloration of teeth, which can be unsightly and affect an individual's confidence.

The process of whitening teeth with hydrogen peroxide and LED light can cause temporary tooth mottling that is associated with the level of peroxide and demineralization it causes. This is temporary and will fade over time. Fluorosis is a common cause of mottling teeth, which can be prevented by limiting fluoride exposure in water, toothpaste, and other sources. Treatment options include dental veneers, bonding, or bleaching, depending on the severity of the condition.

It is important to maintain good oral hygiene practices, like brushing twice a day, flossing, and regular dental checkups to keep teeth healthy and prevent dental diseases like mottling of teeth.
