HOW A DENTAL SCANNER WORKS

Hundreds or thousands of 3D images are combined to create the final digital 3D impression, by capturing more than 3000 2D images per second – 100 times faster than conventional video cameras. This allows your dentist to display a patient's 3D-impression of your teeth on a screen almost immediately after the scan is complete, effectively capturing optical impressions directly.

Dentists have used imprints for decades to capture a 3D representation of a patient’s mouth, but intraoral scanning technology is preferred over the conventional imprint methods in most cases because it is fast and comfortable, and collects data about your teeth to fractions of a millimetre.
